Operating a Business

Business licenses are required for businesses operating inside the Ammon City limits and must be renewed every twelve months or on a calendar basis. If you are working out of your home, you must apply for a home occupation permit. We encourage all businesses to contact City Hall with any questions. (208) 612-4000.

The fees for commercial daycare are as follows:

License Fee – $100.00

Fire Inspection – $30.00 per every 5000 sq. ft.

Background Investigation – $50.00 per provider/non-provider

The fees for a home occupation daycare license are as follows:

Home Occupation Daycare License – $25.00

Fire Inspection – $30.00

Background Investigation (per adult over 17 living in the home) – $50.00

Background Investigation (per minor child between ages 12-17 living in the home) – $10.00

Who needs an Itinerant Merchant License in Ammon?

Anyone selling a product or a service door to door or from a stand, vehicle, tent, trailer, rack or other shelter or structure not permanently affixed to real property. Exceptions to door to door sales licensing include any student group or religious, philanthropic or charitable organization exempt from taxation under 26 U.S.C. Section 501 and which has a local charter or sponsor located in the City.

Why do I need an Itinerant Merchant License?

An Itinerant Merchant License is required to help ensure the safety of our citizens in Ammon. It is in the best interest of our residents for the City to know who is selling in Ammon.

It also provides protection for the seller. With the Itinerant Merchant License, they are able to assure their clients that they have been checked out by the City and have met the requirements for a license.

Liquor License:

All establishments that serve beer, wine, or hard liquor are required to have state and city approved liquor licenses. City of Ammon fees for alcohol are as follows and will also require a general business license and fire inspection fees.

Beer – Retail (sales off-premise consumption) $50.00

Beer – Retail (sales on-premise consumption) $200.00

Liquor by the drink $562.50

Liquor Catering Permit (includes liquor/beer/wine) $20.00 per day

Wine – Retail (sales off-premise consumption) $200.00

Wine – Retail (sales on-premise consumption) $200.00

The bartender fee is $75.00 and includes the background investigation.
